2012 The Original Wedding Soiree: Vendors Part 1

As promised, here’s the first batch of interviews we conducted at this year’s The Original Wedding Soiree! They’re not in any particular order. Enjoy! (all photos copyrighted by Devoted to You Inc.)

The Wedding Cake Shoppe

The Wedding Cake Shoppe is owned and operated by sisters Cindy and Sarah Coelho with an exclusive focus on wedding cakes. Cindy has been designing, baking, and decorating wedding cakes professional for over 11 years. After graduating as a Pastry Chef and perfecting her skills with exquisite and world renowned pastry leaders, she taught everything she knew about wedding cakes to little sister and apprentice Sarah.

When asked about up and coming wedding cake trends, the girls are seeing more structured elements and embellishments and lots of bright vibrant colors! Cake tables are also without doubt becoming increasingly popular; replacing the traditional tiered wedding cake at the head table. With an assortment of cupcakes in a variety of sizes, The Wedding Cake Shoppe offers cake table set-up and can coordinate with event decorators to create a cake table that ties in with the theme of the couple’s wedding.

We of course could not leave without asking the girls about their most popular wedding cake flavors. Red velvet is a definite staple but The Wedding Cake Shoppe’s rustic version of the carrot cake with the same cream cheese buttercream frosting as the red velvet is also a popular pick. Putting a twist on the lemon cake, passion fruit is a light and refreshing alternative for summer weddings!

Pear Studios

Photography is one of the highest priorities for me not only in weddings, but to capture the happy moments on an every day basis.  We had the opportunity to chat with Kristina, the co-owner and principal artist of Pear Studios to share a few tips with us on wedding photography.  Kristina has shot many weddings for celebrities and Pear Studios is known for their adventurous-style photography.  They like tailoring sessions to the couples and have done a lot of out of the box photoshoots.  When we asked Kristina what was one of the most memorable shoots she’s done, she said she once did a wedding day shot with the bride and groom sitting on different levels of diving boards.

Tips for bride on finding the perfect photographer – pick 3 photographers based on the style that you like and interview all 3 of them.  Then pick the one that you connect with.  As artists, they feed off the energy from the couples.  The key to being a good photographer is that they need know how to read people really well.

Soapbox Photo & Video Booths

I adore photos so having the opportunity to learn a little more about Soapbox Photo and Video Booths was a real treat for me. Soapbox Booths services the greater Toronto area and beyond, providing photo and video booth rentals for special events such as a weddings. These booths help ensure your guests are kept entertained throughout the wedding!

Soapbox actually started with only video booths over five years ago and watched the booths gain popularity over the last couple of years. The video booths offer an added element of entertainment and an interactive way to capture the excitement of the couple’s special day. Guests visit the booth, record messages, stories, and send their best wishes to the newlyweds in a candid yet fun and unstructured manner. These video messages are later edited with menus, chapters and converted into a DVD for the bride and groom as a keepsake piece of their special day!

Soapbox differentiates itself from other photo booth vendors with their custom hardware which allows them to provide an elegant look that won’t take away from the wedding decor. The booths have an open concept design so guests are filmed using the couple’s wedding as the backdrop and are not restricted to the number of guests in each screenshot. Soapbox also prides itself for the quality of their photos. Their booths use digital SLR cameras which immediately print a copy of the photo for guests while saving a copy to be sent to the bride and groom after the wedding.

Lastly, Soapbox is the only dedicated vendor that offers both photo and video booths. Later this year, the company will be adding a kiosk that offers exclusive touchscreen guestbooks. The patent pending technology allows guests to hand-write messages to be digitally captured with their photos and later printed off in a timeless coffee table book.

⭐️We’ve planned this wedding in less than 6 weeks. Most weddings take over a year to plan because of venue availability💡 Tip: it is possible and doable to plan a wedding in such a short amount of time as long as 1️⃣hire a wedding planner who has a strong network of vendors and able to find quality vendors that are available in a short amount of time 2️⃣ you have flexibility in your budget and 3️⃣ you are able to make quick decisions!
